Wanted: Pep Talk

* poem by Chas Hoppe

It's been one of those days. One of those days. I know you know what I mean. So, instead of wallowing all night, I've decided to be proactive and ask a favor. Can you ask favors on a blog? I hope so, because many of you are not close enough for me to ask in person. I need a pep talk. I need a "you can do this, this is what I like about you, this is what I think you can do" kind of talk. It seems silly to ask, but it also seems silly not to- to try and make it through the muck all on my own when I'm surrounded by such fantastic people. You don't have to comment here if you don't want to - you can email me : brandi dot kincaid at gmail dot com. Please add in appropriate punctuation to save me the spam. Thank you in advance - it really does mean a great deal to me. And hey- feel free to tell me if you should need the same. No need to pretend we're islands in this.

Also, the above photo has been waiting for a proper post for too long (it was an amazing birthday gift from an amazing friend who happens to be a very talented poet). I thought this post would be perfect, because in the glum of this evening, it made me smile.

Brandi,

Everyone fights their own inner demons, everyone has there GREAT and REALLY BAD days. And I am sure that like everyone else, you feel all alone here but let me tell you that you are not! And I think that we both face some of the same inner demons. It runs through our heads like a runaway freight train. What decision should I make, did I make the right decision, how will I know what to do, I am afraid of failing, no one has any respect for me, I don’t want to embarrass myself, I am not smart enough, no one likes me, life sucks, I want to just crawl in a hole and hide, I am afraid of anything new, I am fat, I am ugly, I hate myself, I JUST CAN’T DO THIS! The list could go on forever, and I wish that I could say that these issues get better with age. However I can tell you in my case at least, it has not. But what you do learn is that you just have to keep yourself from climbing in that hole. Because you know what……every decision that you make may not always be right but always seems to work out, everyone does really like you and for a good reason, you are good person, you are smart enough, everyone probably has more respect for you than you have for yourself, everyone embarrasses themselves, everyone is scared, everyone hates something about themselves, life really does not suck, AND YES YOU REALLY CAN DO THIS!

I only wish that I had some type of talent and passion that could equal your literary talent and love for literature, also that wonderful insight into life. Not to mention you are young, have your whole life ahead of you and are married to the love of your life. What more can you ask for without feeling selfish. You can also afford to still make as many mistakes in life as it takes to get it right. I am sure you hate it when people tell you this but you have no idea how lucky you are!!! You keep life simple and therefore can change your mind, make mistakes or just screw things up. It won’t matter later!!! It will not matter because you have plenty of time to fix it while you are still enjoying living your life! Hell….I feel loke someone who was thrown in some raging river some 20+ years ago and have no idea how I got to where I am today, and let me tell you, IT ALL WORKED OUT. Yes, there have been some really hard times but again…it all works out. The good times are great, the bad times are bad but the good times always makes up for the bad times.

I can tell you with what little that I know about you…..YOU WILL SUCCEED IN LIFE and if you let yourself, you can be really HAPPY! Granted, I am still trying to learn this, but you just have to let yourself be happy with your life, and we owe it to those around us that we love to let ourselves be happy. It is only a state of mind!

Instead of beating myself up everyday I really try to focus on good thought and thought that I would pass one along. Here is a quote that really seems to apply.

“Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results”. -Anon.

You are an incredible, beautiful and talented women who has a passion for what in life she loves, people that love her dearly and has found the man of her dreams. Accept those things in life that you have, don’t waste your life worrying about those things that you don’t and let everything else fall into place on their own!! What else is there that really matters?????

Hey, Brandi.
Never been to your site. "Happened" upon it today via Hannah's.

I wish I had a magic wand and could make it all better.

Hold on. Let those who love you, love you. Listen to your heart. Chase your dreams. Live out loud.

Those things takes courage. You have enough.

I'm one of many that think you are an incredibly valuable human being.

Sending much love and as many good vibes as I can muster your way!

I love you. I still follow you because of your talent. I am impressed by your ability to pick up and move across the country and start a life with your husband and be happy, happy, happy. It will all be okay...you probably need a cupcake. <3
